Post-TFA AU + Bonus Crossover
Extended Post-TFA AU (with Han, Rey, Chewbacca, and Kitty) in which no one is murdered, maladjusted people explore Feelings, and Han, Chewie, and the garbage ship must try to survive the shenanigans of three temperamental Youths.
At Starkiller Base. After Kylo Ren's unsuccessful attempt to kill his father, Han and company knock him out and take him home.
Waking up on the Falcon. Kylo Ren does not appreciate being rescued. He makes an awful lot of threats for a guy who took a bowcaster to the leg and voices suspicions about the Resistance's intentions.
Limping around the Falcon. Recuperation is for the weak.
- Rey refuses to be needled into attacking him.
- He and Kitty chat, which results in a wall being punched.
- Han begins to get through to him in small but significant ways.
- Unsurprisingly, Chewbacca refuses to be goaded.
Kitty's nightmares are loud. Somehow, she ends up sitting in the hall of the Falcon holding hands with Kylo Ren (which does not amuse Rey). He becomes the chosen target of her need for closeness and they start connecting in ways that are probably inadvisable. As she bandages up his leg, he begins to explain some of his messed up motivations. In a fit of sentimentality, he tucks her hair behind her ear and creates exciting new problems.
Kylo Ren (Ben?) seeks out his father. His admission that he didn't want to kill Han is met with an unexpected hug. Shaken by all of this newfound vulnerability and worried about what will happen when they reach D'Qar, he is coaxed into helping Han repair the ship.
Kylo Ren seeks Rey. After an onslaught of vulnerable emotions, he really needs to be around someone who hates him. His attempts at needling her end with him losing his cool and ripping into the bulkheads.
Kitty visits after D'Qar. She reveals her backstory. He attempts to show her how to meditate, but neglects to ask permission before slipping into her mind. Ren (Ben?) accidentally finds that he cares about someone other than himself. Since he's terrible at words, he lets her into his mind and shows her his complex feelings towards Snoke; that vulnerability leads to him confessing that he trusts her, which is no small thing. Showing her too much too soon leads to a temper tantrum. She talks him down and he teaches her the ways of sabacc.
Ben (he may as well be Ben now) demands the return of his saber. He has been behaving himself (mostly) and is almost certain that he wants to help them avoid being detected by the First Order and Snoke. Han continues to make Ben question his beliefs and reminds him of how aimless he is without a master to serve. Han returns Ben's lightsaber privileges. Ben isn't optimistic about an uncertain future.
Training on the good old garbage ship.
Han and Ben do the talking thing. They are not that good at it... but not too bad, either.
Blaster practice on a moon! Things go about as well as could be expected until they go horribly wrong.
- Ben and Han practice shooting. Ben is not immediately good at it, which is annoying.
- Kitty and Ben shoot a little (and kiss a little, oops).
- Ben, Rey, and Han get in a bit of force practice too. Rey is not impressed.
- Moontigers attack! Ben has a Moment and almost gets his arm eaten.
After the fight, Kitty bandages Ben up.
Han and Ben contemplate Rey's identity. Ben contemplates his dark-corrupted lightsaber.
Ben tries to be a person at Rey. They manage to have a conversation without damaging anything, Ben gives Rey some force pointers (she isn't sure she wants his help, but), and Rey tells him about her project droid.
Chewie and Ben make dinner. Everything's going fine until Ben betrays Kitty's trust and ruins the whole darn evening. Rey denies what Ben considers an extremely reasonable (if badly timed) request.
After dinner conversation with Kitty.
